We enclose copy of a letter which has been receiv-

ed by the British Cigarette Company Limited at Shanghal

from that Company's Trade Mark Agent in Tokyo.

British Cigarette Company Limited is a Company

registered in Hongkong, and practically all the shares

in it are owned by this Company. It has been the prac-

tice for a number of years to register brands in Japa

for the purpose of protecting them in Corea where the

British Cigarette Company Limited has a considerable

trade.

We shall be very much obliged if you will let us

know if there be any possibility of Hongkong being

notified to the Japanese Government under the terms of

the Japanese Commercial Treaty of the 17th July last.

We should be further obliged should there be such

an objection if you can give us any suggestion to en-

able British Cigarette Company Limited to attain their

object
